Hi!
Kept getting a 'Unable to Print see Maintainace and Troubleshooting Guide' message.Only thing to do was clean the platen(?). Not the easiest part to find. They should make it another color... Finally called Brother...Went through the 'key in blah,blah, and blah' bit. LCD Flashed error code 4F. Guy on the helpline didn't know what it meant(!!). Gave me an area repair shop. I'd like to know the code meaning so I can(if need be)make sure that the shop doesn't try to rip me off(repair est./self-repair instruc. would be nice from here, too). Thanks!

How to reset Brother DCP Series printer:
Windows 10 Compatibility If you upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, some features of the installed drivers and software may not work correctly. Brother printer DCP-J125 has printed several pages; went to print new docs; printer reads 'unable to print 4F'. I have reconnected ports, checked for paper caught, renewed paper.

Here is the proper reset code sequence to reset DCP printers without numeric keypad:

1. Press the Menu, thenMono Start key then press the UP
arrow key 4 times to make the machine enter the maintenance mode and 'ERROR 46' pops-up in the display.
2. Enter maintenance mode 80: Select 8 by pressing the UP/
3. Now Press MONO arrow key several times until you see PURGE:XXXXX

- First turn of the printer
- Switch on the machine while holding down the 'menu' button until all the leds are flashing on/off. Now you are in 'maintenance' mode.
- Press 80
- Press the 'mono start' button several times until you see 'purge: xxxx'
- Press '2783' in order to reset the purge counter. You will see: 'purge:0000'
- Press the 'stop' button.
- Press '99' to exit the maintenance mode.
